Hepworth Studios, Share and Connect - Collaboration, March 2022,

Kristin Wohlers and Kate Jenkins from South Australia were inspired to work together through their mutual love of the environment. Kristin an accomplished mosaic artist, and Kate a skilled Potter and visual artist, give us insights into their collaborative processes through discussion of their large scale outdoor chaise-lounge titled ‘Don’t get too Comfortable’ and their collaborative exhibition 'Bird Talk' 2015.

Kristin Wohlers

Kristin Wohlers is an accomplished artist who specialises in the design and fabrication of mosaic sculpture. She set up Barossa Mosaics offering workshops, collaborations with other artists, and community based art projects, as well as private commissions.

Influenced by the Barossan landscape and the materials available, Kristin works with local stone and repurposed glass, as well as traditional mosaic materials such as ceramic tiles, smalti and cinca.

Collaborating with community is a focus for Kristin who has partnered with a range of organisations including the Barossa Bushgardens, Nuriootpa High School and Creative Barossa – creating lasting artworks in public places.

Through her artwork, Kate aims to raise awareness about the importance of biodiversity in our environment and of the beauty and fragile nature of the living creatures in that environment that we sometimes take for granted

Through Barossa Mosaic, Kate has worked on many community arts projects and in schools in Eudunda, Truro and across the Barossa as well as mentoring and taking workshops in design principals, drawing and colour in mosaics.

Trent Manning

Trent has been living in the Barossa for the past 25 years.

Growing up with a family owned engineering workshop in the back yard led to an interest in working with steel and completing a Blacksmithing course.

When time permits he enjoys creating works that are orientated towards the natural environment, that he hopes people appreciate looking at and using as much as he enjoys making them.

Trent has completed a wide range of public, private and commercial commissions throughout Australia.
